De Engelse voetbalbond gaat Liverpool vergoeden voor de blessure die Steven Gerrard woensdag opliep in de oefeninterland tegen Frankrijk. De club krijgt maar liefst 585.000 euro.
Liverpool had met de bond afgesproken dat Gerrard maximum een uur zou spelen, maar bondscoach Fabio Capello liet hem in het laatste half uur toch staan.
Vijf minuten voor tijd viel de aanvoerder van de Reds uit met een hamstringblessure. Hij is daardoor zeker vier weken buiten strijd.
