Xavier Malisse stoot door naar de tweede ronde van het ATP-toernooi van Indian Wells. De 30-jarige Belg wist vannacht in Californië de maat te nemen van de Italiaanse kwalificatiespeler Flavio Cipolla (ATP-170).
Malisse won in twee sets. Het werd 6-1 en 6-4.
Nu ontmoet hij Jo-Wilfried Tsonga (ATP-17). De 25-jarige Fransman was vrij in ronde een. Het is de eerste keer dat beide heren elkaar ontmoeten.
