De zwemcoach vroeg haar niet te starten na de ontgoochelende prestaties dinsdag op de 100 meter. Daarin werd ze in de halve finales uitgeschakeld met de traagste tijd. Twee jaar geleden werd de Belgische op die afstand nog vierde op het EK in Eindhoven.
Of Matthysen (18) zondag deel uitmaakt van de Belgische ploeg op de 4x100 meter wissel, is nog niet geweten.
