De 30-jarige Fin Mikko Hirvonen (Ford Fiesta RS) heeft zondag in Hagfors de Rally van Zweden, de eerste WRC-manche van het seizoen, gewonnen.
Ford domineerde de openingsmanche van het WK rally, want naast Hirvonen mochten ook de Noor Mads Ostberg (Ford Fiesta RS) en de Fin Jari-Matti Latvala (Ford Fiesta RS) mee op het podium.
Zevenvoudig wereldkampioen Sébastien Loeb (Citroën DS3) werd zesde. Voor Hirvonen was het de 13e WRC-overwinning in zijn carrière.
