Christophe Rochus (ATP-87) kon de eerste set nochtans vlot winnen, maar daarna keerde het tij. De tweede set was spannend, maar het was uiteindelijk de Amerikaan (ATP-194) die zich de beste toonde.
Rochus verloor zijn ritme en Young kon de volgende twee sets makkelijk winnen met 6-2 en 6-4.
