Peter Balette volgt de Nederlander Ron Jans op als trainer van Standard. De 51-jarige Limburger neemt de functie ad interim op tot er een nieuwe hoofdcoach is, zo maakte de club woensdag bekend.
Balette was tot het ontslag van Jans maandag assistent-coach bij de Rouches. Vrijdag zit hij een eerste keer op de bank in de thuiswedstrijd tegen Cercle Brugge.
Standard staat na elf speeldagen op een ontgoochelende 12e plaats in het klassement.
