De vrij onbekende Australiër Rhys Pollock heeft in eigen land de eerste rit in de Herald Sun Tour gewonnen. De renner van Drapac-Porsche is uiteraard de eerste leider.
Pollock ontsnapte op drie kilometer van de meet uit een kopgroep, waarin ook onze landgenoot Jens Debusschere (Omega Pharma-Lotto) zat. De 22-jarige werd uiteindelijk vijfde.
De Herald Sun Tour vindt plaats in de Australische staat Victoria en duurt nog tot en met zondag.
