Maria Sharapova (WTA 2) heeft WTA-toernooi van Stuttgart op haar naam geschreven. De Russische klopte in de finale haar landgenote Victoria Azarenka (WTA 1) in twee korte sets: 6-1, 6-4.
Het was al de derde keer dit jaar dat de twee in een finale tegenover elkaar stonden. Op de Australian Open en in Indian Wells was de Wit-Russische Azarenka telkens de beste.
