In een bloedstollende kwartfinale versloeg Stosur de Amerikaanse Serena Williams met 6-2, 6-7 (2/7) en 8-6. De Australische staat zo voor het tweede opeenvolgende jaar in de halve finales van Roland Garros.
Stosur neemt in het daarin op tegen de Servische Jelena Jankovic (WTA 4). Jankovic was in haar kwartfinale te sterk voor de Kazachse Yaroslava Shvedova (WTA 36). Het werd 7-5 en 6-4.
Het is voor Jankovic, na 2007 en 2008, de derde keer dat ze in de halve finales van Roland Garros staat.
De Russin Elena Dementieva (WTA-5) en de Italiaanse Francesca Schiavone (WTA-17) spelen de andere halve finale.
