Malaga mag volgend seizoen geen Europees voetbal spelen. Het Internationaal Sporttribunaal TAS wees de klacht van de Spaanse club dinsdag in beroep af.
Malaga was naar het TAS gestapt nadat de Europese Voetbalbond de club eind december had gesanctioneerd wegens inbreuken op de financiële regels.
300.000 euro boete
De club moet ook een boete van 300.000 euro betalen. Malaga beëindigde het afgelopen seizoen in de Primera Division op de zesde plaats en haalde zo een ticket voor de Europa League-voorronde. Die plaats gaat nu naar Real Betis (7e). In de Champions League werden de Spanjaarden in de kwartfinales in extremis uitgeschakeld door Borussia Dortmund.
