Een voorkeurslocatie heeft Boonen niet. "Nice, Antibes, Saint-Tropez,… Het is mij allemaal om het even", aldus de wielrenner, "Zolang het maar dicht genoeg bij de zee ligt".
In 2005 woonde Boonen al in Monaco. Hij keerde echter enkele jaren geleden terug naar België.
