De Duitse renner Tony Martin staat dicht bij een overgang naar Quick Step (vanaf volgend seizoen Omega Pharma-Quick Step). Dat schrijft cyclingnews.com.
Martin heeft nog een contract bij Highroad tot en met 2012, maar die ploeg houdt eind dit jaar op met bestaan.
Garmin-Cervélo en Skil-Shimano toonden ook interesse in de tijdrijder, maar zij hebben intussen afgehaakt. Daarmee staat de ploeg van Patrick Leferere in pole position.
De 26-jarige Martin won dit jaar al Parijs-Nice en tijdritten in onder meer de Ronde van Frankrijk en de Daupiné Libéré.
