Alejandro Valverde kan niet meer onderuit zijn schorsing van twee jaar die het Hof van Arbitrage voor Sport (CAS) de 30-jarige Spanjaard eind mei oplegde voor zijn betrokkenheid in de Operation Puerto.
Valverde ging nog in beroep bij de Zwitserse federale rechtbank, maar zijn laatste troef leverde niets op. De renner blijft geschorst tot 1 januari 2012.
