Vanden Borre werd eerder al gelinkt aan Keulen, maar dat ging niet door. Ook een verlengd verblijf bij Portsmouth, waaraan hij vorig seizoen werd uitgeleend door Genoa, behoort niet meer tot de mogelijkheden.
De nieuwste piste voor de 22-jarige Belg is Monaco. De Monegaskische club is volgens La Dernière Heure erg geïnteresseerd om Vanden Borre binnen te halen.
