Jelle Vanendert (Lotto-Belisol) is in de zesde etappe van de Tirreno-Adriatico met zware keelpijn uit de koers van de twee zeeën gestapt. Dat tweette Lotto-Belisol maandag.

Vanendert, die voor de start op een goed klassement mikte, was na de vijfde etappe 44e in de stand.
Maandag stapte ook Andy Schleck (RadioShack-Leopard-Trek) uit de Tirreno-Adriatico.
