Op het Europees kampioenschap voetbal zullen volgend jaar vijf scheidsrechters ingezet worden per wedstrijd. Dat heeft de UEFA beslist.
Er staat dan ook een scheidsrechter achter elke goal om het spel te beoordelen in het strafschopgebied.
Dat gebeurt nu al in de Europa League en de Champions League en wordt dus uitgebreid naar het EK.
