Wickmayer begon zwak aan de wedstrijd en zag Bacsinszky meteen uitlopen. Wickmayer kon die achterstand niet meer goedmaken en verloor de eerste set met 6-3.
Ook in de tweede set kon Wickmayer de Zwitserse niet bedreigen. Bacsinszky stond snel 2-0 voor en stormde daarna door tot 6-1.
Volgende week begint Wickmayer aan de US Open waar ze vorig jaar de halve finales bereikte.
