De Estse Kaia Kanepi heeft Yanina Wickmayer uitgeschakeld in de 1/8e finales van de US Open.
Kanepi (WTA 32) versloeg Wickmayer (WTA 18) in New York in drie sets. Wickmayer won de eerste set met 6-0, maar verloor de twee volgende met 7-6 en 6-1.
De winnares neemt het in de kwartfinales op tegen de Russin Vera Zvonareva of de Duitse Andrea Petkovic.
