Vrancken ondertekende een contract voor anderhalf seizoen. Bij de West-Vlaamse club ontmoet hij opnieuw coach Georges Leekens. "Dat hij trainer is bij Kortrijk was een belangrijke factor", aldus Vrancken.
Vrancken speelde al eens onder Mac The Knife bij AA Gent en dat in het seizoen 2005-2006. De middenvelder vond toen zes keer de weg naar de goal.
Rood-wit heeft nog altijd zicht op de play-offs om de titel.
