Xavier Malisse (ATP 70) speelt in de eerste ronde van het ATP-graveltoernooi in het Amerikaanse Houston (442.500 dollar) tegen de Rus Igor Kunitsyn (ATP 90).
Beide mannen ontmoetten elkaar al een keer eerder op de ATP Tour. In 2011 won Malisse op het toernooi van Metz (hardcourt) in twee sets. Bij kwalificatie neemt Malisse het op tegen de Amerikaan Ryan Harrison (ATP 66) of de Rus Alex Bogomolov jr (ATP 41), het zevende reekshoofd.
Xavier Malisse is de enige Belgische deelnemer in Houston.
