De Russische Vera Zvonareva stoot door naar de halve finales van de US Open.
In de kwartfinale klopte Zvonareva (WTA 8) de Estse Kaia Kanepi in twee sets. Het werd 6-3 en 7-5.
Vera Zvonareva neemt het in haar halve finale op tegen de Slovaakse Dominika Cibulkova (WTA 45) of de Deense Caroline Wozniacki (WTA 2).
