In een interview maakte de top van BMW duidelijk dat de M-divisie en i-divisie niet samen gaan. De M-divisie staat voor performancecars die benzine of diesel slurpen, een geheel andere filosofie dan die van de i-divisie, die staat voor elektrisch en duurzaam. Geen Mi8 dus.
