Hoewel Volkswagen een tijdlang huiverachtig stond tegenover elektrische wagens, blijkt 2013 toch het jaar van e-Volkswagens te zijn. Na de eerder aangekondigde elektrische Golf komt er ook een elektrische variant van hun kleinste stadsrakker, de UP!.
