In september maakt Volvo haar nieuwe designtaal bekend onder Senior Vice President of Design, Thomas Ingenlath. Ze kondigden toen aan drie concepts te zullen maken die een rechtstreekse indicatie geven van Volvo's toekomst. De eerste was , deze Concept XC Coupé is de tweede van de drie.
